Optical Driver disappears in Windows XP Vista Windows 7

This would happen some times when new software is installed on your computer like nero which happens alot the registry has been modified here are some steps to help you resolve this problem

This is what you do...

Start the Run Command Prompt

Type in "regedit" without the parrenthesis then click ok

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Then SYSTEM

Then CURRENT CONTROL SET

Then CONTROL

Then CLASS

Then find {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

The whole thing looks like this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Then delete the upper and lower filters....



Then right click my computer go to manage the computer management windows will be opened
on the right side click device manager and then looking at the right side under DVD/CD-ROM Drivers there should be listed your optical drive name with an exclamation mark right click on it then uninstall
after these above steps are all done

RESTART YOUR COMPUTER THE SYSTEM WILL AUTOMATICALLY FIND THE DEVICE DRIVER AND REINSTALL IT  THEN THERE YA GO!!!! HOPE THIS HELPS
